The Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment

"The finest . . . in the world!"

The Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment was once described by a serving
Army General as "the finest armoured reconnaissance regiment in the world"!

As for their prowess, you need only turn to the pages describing their
illustrious history, as well as the page devoted to The Standards and
the Battle Honours of the Household Cavalry.

It is worth reminding everyone that the Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment
is manned by the self-same soldiers that daily provide The Queen's Life Guard
at Horse Guards, provide Escorts for the Sovereign and visiting Heads of State,
participate in ceremonial parades, and fulfill an extremely busy year
of ceremonial duties.

The roles between the two arms of the Regiment may be diverse,
but this is not by accident - this is a well-honed and disciplined unit.

The Household Cavalry Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment - whether
on active service in a remote theatre of war, on security alert at Heathrow Airport,
or covering for striking firefighters, is ever ready and willing to serve.

While it may be fairly easy to describe a "typical day" - or a "typical year"
in the life of the Mounted Regiment, this is not possible in respect of the
Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment.

For them, there are no such animals as "typical" days or years -
no two days are alike, and fulfilling duties at a moment's notice,
or being deployed within twenty-four hours of being alerted,
are all taken by the Regiment in its stride.

Therefore, the following images - which portray
the Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment in all manner of situations -
speak far better than a thousand words.

Suffice to say that the Household Cavalry Regiment - Armoured and Mounted -
truly is a unique regiment!
