Tickets For Troops

Tickets for Troops is a new initiative designed to boost the morale of service personnel
and their families. Personnel who have been medically discharged since 2001 and their
families are given the opportunity to attend certain events. Organisations which hold
sports, culture, music and entertainment events have donated over 250,000 tickets.
To date almost 100,000 troops have registered for tickets which include 100 tickets to
the Brit Awards, a night at the Royal Opera House and 10,000 tickets to the
2012 Olympic Games.

Combat Stress 24-Hour Helpline

Veterans with mental health problems can access further support
with the recent launch of the new
Combat Stress Support Helpline,
being delivered by Rethink Mental Illness and funded by the
Government,
with support from Combat Stress.

The 24-hour freephone helpline can be contacted by veterans and
their families, and enables them to access expert advice from people
trained and experienced in dealing with ex-servicemen and women
and their often complex mental health needs.

The Norcare Veterans' Centre

Norcare is a charity in the north east which has been helping some of the
region's must vulnerable people since 1984. It was initially established in
response to a request from the probation service, which was aware that
offenders being released from prison were ending up on the streets and
were subsequently at risk of re-offending.

Norcare now provides housing support and a range of other services for
some of the most vulnerable groups of society including those suffering from
alcohol/drug addiction or mental health issues and victims of domestic violence.
The organisation works with people aged 16 and over who are homeless and
socially or economically excluded, and assists them in finding accommodation
and developing the confidence and skills they need to lead happy, independent
lives.

The Norcare Veterans' Centre was set up to help homeless ex-servicemen
and women across the UK. It offers help to veterans who are homeless and
experiencing problems with drugs, alcohol and mental ill health. The centre
has en-suite residential rooms as well as outreach facilities, which provide
access to counselling and family liaison services, accommodation, and drug
and alcohol rehabilitation services. For further information please contact:
