The Colonel-in-Chief of each Regiment is
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

On 24 July 1815, the Prince Regent - as a mark of his
"high approbation of the distinguished bravery and
good conduct" of the First and Second Regiments
at the Battle of Waterloo - was pleased to declare himself
Colonel-in-Chief of both the Regiments of
The Life Guards.

Since 1821 the Colonels-in-Chief
have by tradition been the reigning monarch.
