On a fine evening in mid-August 2007,
while on a week's holiday in the Borders,
my wife and I took our places for
an evening performance of the
2007 Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

It was really good to see the
Mounted Band of The Blues And Royals
taking part in this year's programme - for
which they were immaculately turned out,
and to whom the audience gave a
well-deserved, and enthusiastic reception.

It is a credit to the Mounted Regiment that,
despite all the "noises off" (and on)
- including gunshots and fireworks - the
horses behaved with discipline and dignity.
